Motivated to Live a Better Life: Lifestyle Management Programs

The Office of Community Outreach and Education provides evidence-based and highly participatory workshops. With our support, you can build your confidence in your ability to manage your health and maintain an active and fulfilling life.

The content of each workshop is tailored to your needs.

Our Workshops:

  • Small group workshops
  • Offered either face-to-face or virtually
  • Once a week for 6 weeks
  • 2.5 hour sessions

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program

YOU CAN live a better life, even while managing a chronic health condition! Learn techniques to deal with symptoms of chronic conditions, such as fatigue, pain, sleeplessness, shortness of breath, stress, and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear, and frustration.

Get easy tips for appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance, fall prevention, healthy eating, appropriate use of medication, and action planning and problem-solving.

Diabetes Self-Management Program

YOU CAN manage your diabetes! Learn easy techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, such as fatigue, pain, hyper- and hypoglycemia, stress, and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear, and frustration.

You will learn useful tips on healthy eating, proper foot care, and how to use glucose monitoring in order to make day-to-day decisions and to manage sick days.

Building Better Caregivers

Learn self-care methods to improve caregiver’s health, deal with difficult emotions, plan for the future, improve communication skills with family and friends, family meetings, find resources, manage difficult care partners, stress management, and decision-making.
