OBESITY
Mississippi ranked 2nd in the nation with an obesity prevalence of 40%
In 2023, 71% of adults 18 years or older reported being overweight or obese.
DIABETES
Mississippi ranks 32% higher than the national average for diabetes.
NUTRITION
23% of adults reported consuming vegetables less than once a day while 47% reported consuming fruit less than once a day (BRFSS 2021), making Mississippi a state with one of the lowest rates of fruit and vegetable consumption.
HYPERTENSION
As of 2021, nearly 1 million adult Mississippians (44%) had hypertension (high blood pressure), which is 36% higher than the US national average.
LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Our Lifestyle Management Program workshops are designed around practical and proven best practices that revolve around getting everyone involved in entertaining and engaging ways!
Through mutual support and shared success, participants will gain confidence in managing their health and leading active, fulfilling lives. And the best part? You’ll be able to customize any and all workshop materials to meet your individual needs!
Each workshop lasts only 2.5 hours a week over six weeks, and you can attend in person or online. This makes these classes easy to fit into your schedule and complete at your own pace!
