UpRoot is a collaborative effort to assess and improve the health of Mississippi. This effort includes the input of over 90 partner organizations, including business groups, non-profits, and state agencies. These organizations were convened by the Mississippi State Department of Health beginning in 2014 to complete various components of the State Health Assessment and the State Health Improvement Plan. These groups have worked hard to candidly evaluate the health issues that are having the greatest impact on Mississippians and develop plans to address these issues together.
Aside from putting these plans into action, we want to continue to mobilize new partners and work with community members to think about new ways to uproot the systems and circumstances that contribute to poor health in Mississippi. Building a healthier Mississippi will require input from people and organizations that have diverse interests and perspectives. UpRoot seeks to bring representatives of Mississippi’s diverse communities together to find ways to improve the health of all of our state’s residents.
The UpRoot partnership is guided by the following Vision and Values.
